Galaxy Plastics is looking for a Warehouse Shipping/Receiving Clerk (WSRC) to fill a vacant position.
Galaxy Plastics was established in 1990, finding its roots in supplying fabricated fittings for the hydro and telephone industry to a small regional market. Over the years Galaxy Plastics expanded its manufacturing capabilities to become a leader in the water and wastewater field for fabricated Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) fittings.
As a WSR, you will manage the flow of goods in and out of a warehouse. For instance, you monitor the incoming goods and ensure they are properly stored. You also organize the transportation of the items to various client locations.

Job Duties:
- Determine method of shipment and arrange shipping; prepare bills of lading, customs forms, invoices and other shipping documents manually or by computer.
- Assemble containers and crates, record contents manually or by computer, pack goods to be shipped and affix identifying information and shipping instructions.
- Oversee loading and unloading of goods from trucks or other conveyances.
- Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents, record shortages and reject damaged goods.
- Unpack, code and route goods to appropriate storage areas.
- Maintain internal, manual or computerized record-keeping systems
- May operate forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goods.
- Maintain a clean working area: keeping the shipping and receiving area clean is crucial since you receive and ship items throughout the day. A clean area ensures safety and improves work efficiency. You also reduce accidents by keeping surfaces clean.
- As a shipper/receiver, you work a full-time work schedule or operate in shifts, depending on the frequency of incoming and outgoing items.
- Required to follow all safety requirements, company procedures and protocols.

Physical demands:
- Handling material manually and/or with required equipment.
- Standing, sitting, pacing, and walking.
- Bending or twisting the body.
- Making repetitive motions.
- Able to lift and/or move a minimum of 50lbs repeatedly.

- Participate in and further the Company’s health & safety program.
- Report equipment malfunctions immediately.
- Report quality deficiencies immediately.
- Offer suggestions for process improvement.

Requirements:
- Must have a valid forklift license.
- Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Strong mathematical and numerical skills.
- Able to use MS Office applications, such as excel.
- Must have high-visibility vest and attire for all seasons and weather conditions
- Must have CSA approved, steel-toed, safety work boots.
- Maybe required to work overtime, weekends, and statutory holidays, occasionally.

Knowledge:
- Able to effectively communicate, read, write, and speak in English.
Asset(s):
- Preferred, not required: Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
- Preferred, not required: French or other as a second language.
Skills:
- Willingness to learn.
- Proficient in mathematics and numeracy skills.
- Basic proficiency in using computers and the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Able to lift a minimum of 22.6kg/50Lbs
- Work independently and as part of a team on assigned duties.
- Balance a variety of competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Bills of Lading comprehension.
Health:
- Must be in good health.
- Must wear CSA approved, with triangle, 6” high, non-slip work boots.
- Must follow appropriate gowning procedure before going into production area.
- Follow health & safety regulations.
Compensation:
- Rate of pay $21 to $24 per hour, depending on experience, education, and knowledge.
